WAFU B U17 AFCON: Golden Eaglets need big win against Togo to avoid hosts Ghana

The Golden Eaglets defeated brave Niger to shake off a cautious start to their sub-regional WAFU B U17 Championship title defense and will now have to beat already-eliminated Togo to avoid rampant hosts Ghana in the semi-finals.

The team led by coach Manu Garba is now second in group B with four points from two games.

Burkina Faso top the group after beating Togo 2-0 and enjoying a better goal difference than the Golden Eaglets.

On Wednesday, Burkina Faso will take on Niger, while the Golden Eaglets will take on Togo in the final matches of Group B.

Finishing was the bane of the Nigerian boys in the opening match against Burkina Faso.

However, coach Manu made the changes in attack against Niger on Sunday evening to allow his team to prevail.

HB Academy forward Rapha Adams was the match winner against Niger after being moved to the flanks for the more direct Abdulmuiz Adeleke to lead the attack.

Exciting winger Ibrahim Abdulganiyu, who was an outspoken man against Burkina Faso, saw no action on Sunday but his flair and zeal could be the keys to unlocking a Togo side who have only their finishing to blame their loss to Burkina Faso. .
