Seventh’s V2 zip-up hoodie is perfection

In the years before the pandemic, streetwear was already the trending style. But working from home has only made hoodies and sweatpants more important. By leaving their suits on the hangers, professionals can wear something more comfortable around the house. And so, fashion brands began competing to create the best loungewear on the market.

American luxury house Fear of God made waves with their more accessible sub-brand ‘Essentials’, via brand logos, and the first product from Kanye West’s short-lived collaboration with Gap was the ‘Perfect Hoodie;’ a product that until recently I thought lived up to its name.

Although hoodies are a quick to throw on item, to be comfortable and relaxed without much effort, the key to making a truly great hoodie comes down to the thickness and quality of the material, and the way it sits on the body ; and for these reasons, nothing comes close to the London-based luxury brand’s signature V2 zip-up hoodie Seventh.

Designed in London and made in Seoul, the hoodie features hidden two-way YKK zippers – the highest quality zippers on the market – and is made from a thick 610 GSM French Terry cotton blend, double lined across both the body of the hoodie and the hoodie. the hood itself.

The hood is wide and slightly triangular, the shoulders are dropped low, it has a cropped fit at the waist (which stops right at the waistline) and the cuffs on the sleeves are tight, keeping the oversized arms and body neatly in place to stay. In the abstract this sounds pleasant but unremarkable. Personally, it’s anything but.

Thanks to seventh

Thanks to the thick, double-layered quality fabric, the hoodie sits more on the body like a tailored jacket, and the whole thing has a nice, rounded profile along the arms and shoulders. With the zipper down it’s the chicest version of the hoodie style — better than any designer brand — but unzipped it’s the best. When you put your hands in the kangaroo pockets, the curved profile and shorter bottom create an almost classic bar jacket cut; and if you want, the hood is so thick and heavy that you can fold the fabric over like a cardigan, keeping it comfortably in place, which is how I usually wear it.

And when you put the hood on, it’s almost comically oversized perfect for windy weather, especially if you wear over-ear headphones. Most important of all; because the fabric is so thick and high quality, it feels great. Jerry Lorenzo, founder of Fear of God, has pointed out that comfort is the ultimate luxury; and no item has ever conveyed that feeling to me more than Seventh’s hoodie.

This is simply the perfect hoodie. The only downside is that the price reflects that, at £265 – about $330 – plus delivery and shipping costs.

That is a lot of money; but consider the costs of a quality coat or a nice jacket. You pay for the quality and the cut, and it doesn’t feel like a rip-off; and Seventh’s hoodie is made with the same approach and care. And unlike those, which you might only wear occasionally, you can wear this one all the time; for a quick walk to the shops, for lounging at home or to look good on a night out.

When Bukki Ojo founded Seventh in 2019, he set out to ‘perfect the everyday garment’. He certainly succeeded.

If you want a hoodie that will last and make you feel great, this is the only choice in town. Now I just have to try their sweatpants; and trying to convince myself not to buy another one of these in the coffee brown color.
