Girl, 5, dies after being strangled by a garden swing in ‘tragic accident’ pays tribute

In a heartbreaking incident, a five-year-old girl tragically lost her life after becoming entangled in her garden swing, leading to strangulation.

The family of Aurora Masters, from Colorado, confirmed the devastating news. The young girl suffered brain trauma due to oxygen deprivation caused by the incident, as revealed by her great-aunt, Brenda Kennedy.

The horrific incident occurred last Friday and Aurora was immediately rushed to Children’s Hospital Colorado in Aurora, where she was placed on life support. Brenda shared with a local news channel, “She pulled her little plastic slide over to where her swing was and somehow got tangled in the swing, and the swing strangled her.”

A moving memorial service will be organized to honor the life of the beloved young girl, with friends gathering for a heartfelt tribute full of song and dance. Brenda said: “We have also started discussing and organizing our thoughts for a memorial service and celebration of life. The celebration will be for Aurora and her friends to sing, dance and live their best lives!”

“Once completed, additional funds will be donated to agencies and/or organizations that will help perpetuate Aurora’s memory. Thank you for all your expressions of love to our family. You hold our hearts!” Previously, the family was faced with the heartbreaking decision to provide the child with end-of-life care due to an untreatable brain swelling.

“We ran some tests today to see where we stand,” said a post detailing the difficult decision. The tragic circumstances occurred when Aurora suffered a lack of oxygen, leading to severe swelling of the brain. An MRI confirmed the dire situation, prompting the family’s decision to transition to end-of-life care and consider organ donation.

“We are currently exploring options to make her transition as easy as possible for her. Thank you all for your continued thoughts, prayers and messages for our sweet girl. If you looked up last night, or you look up tonight you will see our Miss Aurora putting on a beautiful show for you with the Borealis,” Brenda wrote.
