Doug Gottlieb hired as Green Bay men’s basketball coach

The University of Wisconsin Green Bay on Tuesday hired Fox Sports Radio host Doug Gottlieb as its new men’s basketball coach.

Gottlieb, 48, has no previous experience as a college head coach, although he has long desired such a job. He interviewed for the head coaching vacancy at Oklahoma State in 2017 and almost got the job in Green Bay last year. He was a star point guard at Notre Dame and Oklahoma State, twice led the NCAA Men’s Division I in assists, and moved to broadcasting shortly after his final college season in 1999-2000. He has also worked for ESPN and CBS as a radio host, studio and in-game analyst, while also coaching at the AAU level and at the Maccabiah Games in Israel.
