Roger Dyson Group creates the ultimate IVECO X-Way recovery truck

The very first IVECO X-Way UK recovery truck has hit the road and the robust machine has become a reality thanks to bodybuilder Roger Dyson. This ‘monster truck’ is the first of many X-Way-based recovery vehicles to join operators’ fleets.

Supplied by Sherwood Truck and Van, the IVECO X-Way 6×2 was sent by Roger Dyson to his heavy-duty recovery bodybuilder partner Tevor in Poland for construction before returning to the UK for final completion. Roger Dyson Ltd is the sole UK distributor for Tevor vehicles, and this bright yellow example – the first of its kind – will enter service with Newport-based Walls Truck Services.

This behemoth has a gross train weight (GTW) of 80 tonnes and is equipped with twin winches that can lift approximately 15.9 tonnes. Thanks to the 570 hp Cursor 13 engine and robust chassis, this IVECO X-Way can easily tow coaches or fully loaded 44-ton trucks. Thanks to a range of deployable hydraulic stabilizers and limited slip differentials, the X-Way can rescue large vehicles from even the most precarious situations. It also features axle load indicators to help assess weight distribution and ensure safe towing, while all heavy tools and recovery equipment are stowed in large chassis side storage lockers.

Roger Dyson said: “We have been building bodies for IVECO vehicles based on the Daily and Eurocargo for a number of years. Exploring what was possible with the highly capable IVECO X-Way was a logical step, especially when we took into account the truck’s drivability, refinement and ease of use.”

The truck cabin is just as impressively equipped as the exterior, with a spacious sleeper cabin. Ample storage space and a memory foam bed with convenient shortcut functions for important operations – such as lights and door locks – within easy reach make this space comfortable and convenient. Features such as a microwave, refrigerator, food storage and charging ports for smart devices allow the modern driver to be self-sufficient during long-distance or overnight recovery missions.

This IVECO X-Way is currently one of six examples on order, with an even more capable Roger Dyson continued: “The performance of the IVECO X-Way, combined with the option of three or four axles, makes it an ideal heavy-duty recovery platform for our customers.”

Vincenzo Nicolo, Managing Director of IVECO UK & ROI said: “Roger Dyson has been responsible for some very capable recovery vehicles, but this new IVECO X-Way is truly impressive. These trucks make the most of their tough IVECO DNA.”
